Studying online can be one of the best ways to learn English, at your own comfort and convenience. It is a very practical way to start speaking the language, applying what you already know as soon as you learn it and to actually put those into practice wherever you are in the world.
Speaking to someone who is not from your own country is a welcomed challenge when you are studying English online. Let’s face it, if you are talking to someone that you have a common language to share with, it’s easier to be tempted to just use both of your first language to make sure you communicate well, avoiding misunderstanding.
Studying online with an ESL teacher is not only a safe place to learn and be corrected from mistakes but also will force you to speak English because that’s the only way you would understand each other. The freedom of participating in an online class lets you study and learn but without the pressure of passing an examination. Using a computer or a laptop anywhere in the globe, your only focus is to make sure you understood and when you explain yourself, your ideas are understood. This competence drilled through each class is a life skill that will open doors for the student.
Enrolling yourself to an online English class will help you improve your listening skills, not having the physical cues to help you understand, you will depend mostly on the stresses of the teacher’s words and sentences to help you make out what he or she is saying. This will help you get used to the rhythm and tone of the language since this is more caught than taught. You will get used to speaking in the language as well as saying it right because you have a teacher to guide and correct you.
The ability to speak in almost any topic would be effortless because you will be used to speaking about pretty much any topic under the sun (since we are online and are free to utilize the internet well) and preparing for examinations like TOEIC or IELTS will not be too burdensome to take since you are already used to it.
Lastly, as I have been teaching online for 4 years and counting, being able to do classes online has helped many students not only have some kind of direction in their career or studies, it has prepared them well in life, too. Being able to learn to be a good communicator using English as a medium has impacted both their listeners and them as speakers.
They were able to assess situations in life better and address them in the best way possible, building good relationships through understanding. Being able to express themselves clearly in the language has helped them to be more confident and proactive in achieving the kind of life that they want to live.
